Message From the Principal 12.12.2025

Dear Families,

We have had a very festive week in school this week, with both the Christmas Jumper day and the library’s Christmas Cracker Event both taking place on Thursday. We raised a total of £165 for charity from the Christmas jumper day this year which will support children and families over the Christmas period.

Attendance

Year 7 students continue to lead the way with their excellent attendance to school and we look forward to celebrating this with them next week. More details on the special event will be shared with students and families on Thursday!

Student Reports

Next week you will be receiving your child’s report. As we have moved our management information system to a new platform (Bromcom), the way that reports will be delivered to you has now changed.

Reports will only be available through the MCAS (My Child At School) platform.

As a result of this, it is important that you look out for an email to complete your registration to access this system. Emails will be shared every day for the coming week. Links we share only last 24 hours before expiring, so please look out for this link, and complete the registration process as soon as possible.

Please make sure you look out for an email from Bromcom, and please remember to check your junk/spam folders for this message.

Access to MCAS can be completed via a standard web browser via a computer, or via the MCAS app, which is available on both Android and Apple platforms from their respective app stores.

Building Update

Following a series of meetings with the project managers, we are now in a position where contractors can start to prepare for the works that are needed to fully repair B Block. The initial phase of work will start after the Christmas holiday and will enable both structural engineers and architects to plan for the replacement cladding and window systems to be designed and constructed. There will then be a period of time where the project will go out for tender to find a suitable construction company to take on the works. Once this has been completed, we will then be able to carefully plan how those works will be delivered, and confirm what arrangements we will need to put in place to ensure that lessons can continue without any disruption. Please be assured that there will be no more remote learning!

We continue to appreciate your support during this time, and it is great to finally have some news to share that outlines the steps that are being taken to move this huge project forward.

Staff Absence

As I am sure you are aware, we have had a difficult time over the past few weeks with high levels of staff absence. We fully appreciate the difficulties this poses to provide high quality education and having the correct staff delivering lessons. Lots of other schools around the country have been experiencing similar issues and we are fortunate that, unlike some schools, we have been able to remain open. We are working closely with supply agencies to ensure we have the best staff available, although we have found that agencies are also struggling with staff absences too, this has only compounded the problem in schools.

School Panto

We are looking forward to the school panto next week on Thursday. We are aware that there are different posters promoting different start times for the event so we would like to confirm that the panto will start at 7:30pm.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing all students on Monday for the last week of term. School closes at 12:45 on Friday next week. Please do contact the school office if you need any support to supervise your child until 3pm.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. J. Firth

Principal
