Message From the Principal 23.01.2026

Dear Families,

This week, our students have had several exciting opportunities to grow and learn. On Thursday, Year 9 participated in workshops provided by our Ethos Team. These sessions covered the vital theme of healthy relationships, using creative, practical activities to engage students in a meaningful way.

Also on Thursday, we were delighted to welcome back Dr. Martijn van der Spoel. Following last year’s glowing feedback, Dr. van der Spoel provided our Year 11 students with simple, evidence-based psychological strategies to support their revision for this summer’s terminal examinations. We already have plans to bring him back next year to work with Year 10, ensuring they have even more time to embed these vital study habits.

The response to our B Block update video was incredible, reaching over 6,500 people. Thank you for engaging with our digital content! Moving forward, we will continue to share B Block updates via video and will also begin trialing a video version of our weekly newsletter to better celebrate our school's weekly achievements.

Leadership Changes

I would like to confirm that a number of changes have been made recently to the leadership team in school. Details of the changes are highlighted below:

Mrs Owen - Assistant Principal responsible for Teaching and Learning

Mrs Brainwood - Assistant Principal responsible for Personal Development

Mr Glover - Head of Sixth Form

Miss Cuthbert - Head of Creative Arts

Mrs Raven - Whole School Literacy Lead

Mobile Phones: “See it, Hear it, Lose it”

Following recent Department for Education guidance regarding phone-free environments and social media restrictions for under-16s, we are refocusing our efforts on school focus and safety.

We have noticed a slight increase in phone usage on site. Please remind your children of our clear policy: If a phone is seen or heard in school, it will be confiscated.

While we understand that parents use phones to monitor their child's safety outside of school hours, there is no requirement for students to use them during the school day. We appreciate your continued support in keeping our environment focused and safe.

Have a lovely weekend!

Yours sincerely,

Mr. J. Firth

Principal
