Message From the Principal 09.01.2026

Dear Families,

Happy New Year! I am sure that the holidays seem a distant memory, but we all hope that you had a wonderful break.

We would like to thank you again for your patience and support this past Wednesday while we dealt with the challenge of a blown 450-amp fuse. We understand that several businesses across Rushden faced similar issues, indicating a broader electrical network problem.

We also sincerely apologise for the communication difficulties some of you experienced during this time. We have identified and addressed a technical glitch within our messaging system; we will be running another full test early next week to ensure everything is working as it should.

Young Writers' Poetry Anthology

We are thrilled to announce that several of our learners have been selected for publication in the next Young Writers’ Poetry Anthology! This is a fantastic achievement, and we are incredibly proud of the creativity and effort our students put into this project. We look forward to sharing the published works with you soon.

Year 11 Progress Evening

It was a pleasure to see so many parents and carers at our Progress Evening yesterday. We hope the sessions helped clarify current learning gaps and provided a clear roadmap for students as they prepare for the next round of mock exams. If you were unable to attend but would like additional support or information, please contact your child’s form tutor in the first instance.

Ofsted

As you may have seen in recent news reports, Ofsted is now inspecting schools under a new framework. We are closely monitoring the first wave of reports from December to understand how these new standards are being applied.

Early indications suggest that while Ofsted has introduced new grading terminology, there is an expectation that many schools will see at least one assessed area marked as "Required Attention," regardless of overall progress. We will keep you updated as more clarity emerges from the initial national reports.

New Staff

Please join us in welcoming our newest team members:

  • Mr. Davies: Head of Science
  • Mrs. Bhosale: Teacher of Science and STEM Leader
  • Mrs. McGregor: Joining our Student Reception team next week

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend,

Yours sincerely,

Mr. J. Firth

Principal
