At Rushden Academy, our overall approach to Teaching and Learning is driven by our desire to create a school environment where every student is inspired to Aspire, encouraged to Explore, and empowered to Succeed. This desire remains at the heart of our Teaching and Learning approach so that we continue to offer a world class education to all learners. We remain committed to continual improvement and edcuational excellence; striving for innovative and exciting teaching and learning every hour of every day.
As part of our approach to ongoing improvement, we utilise 8 key teaching and learning principles. We call these our Teaching and Learning Foundations. Based on research from Coe et al. (2014) What Makes Great Teaching, and Rosenshine (2012) Principles of Instruction, we believe that these key principles are what make up transformative practice. Our ongoing focus on these 8 areas are what ensures that teaching at Rushden Academy engages, challenges, and deepens learners' understanding at every level so that all learners make outstanding progress.
Establishing clear and consistent class routines is fundamental to cultivating an orderly and structured school environment. These predictable patterns provide students with a sense of security and clarity, allowing them to better understand expectations and navigate the school day with confidence. When routines are in place, valuable learning time is maximised as transitions are smoother and disruptions are minimised. This structure not only supports effective teaching but also fosters a calm and focused atmosphere where students can thrive academically and socially, ultimately contributing to a more positive and productive school community for everyone.
