Dear Families,
It was lovely to start the week off with some brilliant feedback from our community about our performing arts team's amazing performances at the Rushden Christmas Lights event over the weekend. We are extremely proud of our performing arts team, who have worked hard to support the students, and for giving up their time to support this fantastic community event. It isn’t long until we see this year’s school panto! Make sure you use the links on our social media posts to book your tickets as these are selling out fast!
SEND Sessions
We are extremely grateful to those families who signed up for our SEND Information sessions. We hope that families found this session useful, and we are grateful for the feedback received. Following these sessions, the team has outlined the following actions moving forward:
- To explore having themed sessions for families led by specialists. For example, support with anxiety, sleep solutions, and understanding how the teenage brain develops. We will explore a combination of face-to-face and online delivery options.
- To introduce a buddy system for students with SEND.
- To provide a clear overview of our homework expectations for all families.
- Strengthen our communication to families when set changes are made after each assessment point.
We will keep you informed of our progress through newsletters and via our social media platforms.
Christmas Jumper Day
Next Thursday we will be supporting Save The Children’s Christmas Jumper Day. Students will be required to wear their usual school uniform with the exception of being able to wear a Christmas jumper in replacement of the school jumper. Sixth formers will be on the gates at the start of day to collect a donation of £1 for charity.
Rewards Day
We are looking forward to next Friday as we celebrate 526 students who have had excellent behaviour and attendance over the start of the academic year. Students will be going to Cineworld at Rushden Lakes. Those students who are not going on the reward trip will continue to have lessons in school. Please make sure you have read the information letter carefully so you are aware of the plans for the end of the school day.
Year 11 Mocks Results
On Friday afternoon year 11 students all received their grades from their mock examinations. The aim of this process is to provide opportunities for students to practice in preparation for the real event next summer. By doing this we hope to reduce stress levels during the summer exam season, and provide opportunities for students to practice their post-results conversations. Students can discuss their results with teachers and discuss what their next steps need to be to further improve their results. Teachers will be supporting students with specific areas for improvement, along with ensuring bespoke plans are in place to support and fill gaps in knowledge.
As a reminder, students completing BTEC courses are working towards their upcoming coursework deadline, 15th December.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing all students on Monday!
Yours sincerely,
Mr. J. Firth
Principal
