Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is additional funding for schools in England to help raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. Evidence shows that children from disadvantaged backgrounds generally face extra challenges in reaching their potential at school and often perform less well than their peers.

It is up to us as school to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent but the main aim is to help disadvantaged pupils improve their progress and the exam results that they achieve.

We receive £995 for every secondary age pupil who claims free school meals or who has claimed free school meals in the last 6 years. We also receive £310 for every pupil with a parent who is serving in the HM Forces or who has retired on a pension from the Ministry of Defence.

We make every effort to ensure that pupils are supported with the allocation of funding in several ways to ensure we provide:

  1. Teaching and learning support
  2. Enriched personal development
  3. Wider support for multiple challenges
  4. Everyday resources
  5. Quality numeracy and literacy skills
  6. Support for good attendance & punctuality

Across these areas each expenditure is evaluated by the Pupil Premium Lead. We are committed to closing the gap between pupils deemed disadvantaged and their peers.

We recognise that there is no such thing as a typical disadvantaged child and many have very supportive backgrounds and high ambitions. We also recognise that for some there are no quick fixes so a blended approach works best for many of our pupils.
