Thank you for visiting!

I am delighted to welcome you to our rapidly improving school, Rushden Academy. We are part of a highly successful trust called Tove Learning Trust (TLT) and have excellent collaborative networks across the trust. Staff really enjoy working at Rushden Academy and our high staff retention figures demonstrate this fully.

Team Rushden are on the cusp of something great, our results are rapidly improving and our intake numbers are increasing. Visitors are impressed when they visit our school commenting on the strong Team Rushden values permeating across all aspects of school life. We have built a culture where together, students and staff are united in transforming our school.

We are proud of our achievements to date and regularly communicate this widely. There is a strong drive to excel in lessons and to behave respectfully towards each other and our community. We are proud of the curriculum that we have on offer, not only does it deliver the content pupils need to excel in today’s society but it also develops their imaginations.

Our sixth form provision, The East Northamptonshire College (TENC), is shared with two local secondary schools, sharing our expertise not only at KS5 but also at KS4 with cross moderation and quality assurance systems. We also have an outstanding nursery onsite, which is open term-time only and many of our staff use this excellent provision for their children.

Thank you to parents attending the year 9 parents evening last night, it was good to see so many positive parents and pupils. I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that reports will be changing in the near future so that you get a true reflection of how you son/daughter is performing over a period of time and a snap shot of how they perform under exam conditions in an assessment. We have listened to your comments and believe that this will help and be a fairer process.

This is an incredibly stressful time in households at the moment as pupils prepare for their forthcoming exams. There is a lot of support available to help during this period, whether it be advice on coping with the exam period or last minute revision tips. I would say prepare by not leaving it to the last minute and cramming, to know how you best learn by trying different strategies and give yourself breaks (as long as the breaks don’t become longer than the revision period)! We have invested in GCSE pod for all pupils and it is worth accessing and watching the video clips. You cannot beat practicing past papers and reading through examiners mark schemes so I would highly recommend that. We will be offering holiday revision at May half term again.

Yet another exciting week at Rushden Academy. Year 11 ‘Real GCSE’ exams have started kicking in with preparations underway for Drama and Art. Everything appears to be going to plan; staff and pupils are busy and there is a real sense of determination amongst Team Rushden.

Today we have 12 hours of sport taking place, over 70 pupils paid £20 each to participate in sport all day, madness, but a fantastic effort for charity. Today we also had a volcano extravaganza in Humanities. I am sure that you will see some photos at some point, but I did want to share this photo of some volcano cake that appeared on my desk today from two y7 pupils.
