Message From the Principal 10.10.2025

Year 6 open Evening

On Thursday this week, we held our open evening for prospective parents with children in Year 6. It was wonderful to welcome them to Rushden Academy to showcase the school and the amazing work our team is doing. Our student helpers were absolutely amazing, and we are so proud of their commitment to supporting the school. We would like to thank parents too for their support in dropping off and collecting students who volunteered to help with this important evening. We have received some lovely feedback from the community who praised the staff and the students. This feedback means a lot to the team who work so hard to support all students.

Assemblies

This week's assemblies, delivered by Mr Smart, focused on the theme of kindness. Our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors supported the Year 7 assembly to introduce themselves, ensuring students know who they can speak to if they have any concerns. We are very proud of our student ambassadors and the work they are doing to support our community and helping students to feel safe. We also provide students with a range of other ways to report concerns, ensuring the team can offer support:

  • An Anti-Bullying Box outside the main hall, providing a physical way to send messages about any concerns.
  • A report form on the school website allowing students to report anonymous concerns to the team using any internet connected device.
  • A Google Report Form accessible on the school landing page when using any school computer.
  • Speaking to a trusted adult. We encourage students to identify at least three trusted adults at school, ensuring they always have someone to talk to.

Social Media

It has been disappointing to read a number of negative posts on social media that name members of our team. We want to remind our community that our staff members try their very best every day. The school team is always open to dialogue, and we feel that speaking to the school directly is the most supportive and positive way to address any concerns.

To get in touch, please call or email the office to book an appointment. We kindly remind you that we cannot guarantee an available member of the team if you arrive at reception without a prior booking.

Sixth Form Careers Speed Dating!

On Thursday morning, Sixth Form students took part in a Careers Speed Dating Event, meeting and talking to a range of local employers, apprenticeship providers, and trainers as part of our extensive personal development programme. Students engaged brilliantly with the event, asking visitors excellent questions and gaining a better understanding of the different career pathways available after Sixth Form. We are extremely proud of our Sixth Form Personal Development programme and look forward to showcasing our provision, in partnership with Huxlow Academy, during our open evening on 13th November at Rushden Academy.

We would like to thank our visitors for donating their time to support our students. If you, a family member, or a colleague are able to support our students by sharing careers information during our whole-school careers event later in the academic year, we would love to hear from you.

With two weeks left until the end of this half term, we want to remind you that school closes to students on Thursday 23rd October as we have a Tove Learning Trust training day on Friday 24th October. We also want to let you know that term dates for the next academic year are now available on the school website.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to seeing all students on Monday!

Yours sincerely,

Mr. J. Firth

Principal
