Thank you for visiting!

I am delighted to welcome you to our rapidly improving school, Rushden Academy. We are part of a highly successful trust called Tove Learning Trust (TLT) and have excellent collaborative networks across the trust. Staff really enjoy working at Rushden Academy and our high staff retention figures demonstrate this fully.

Team Rushden are on the cusp of something great, our results are rapidly improving and our intake numbers are increasing. Visitors are impressed when they visit our school commenting on the strong Team Rushden values permeating across all aspects of school life. We have built a culture where together, students and staff are united in transforming our school.

We are proud of our achievements to date and regularly communicate this widely. There is a strong drive to excel in lessons and to behave respectfully towards each other and our community. We are proud of the curriculum that we have on offer, not only does it deliver the content pupils need to excel in today’s society but it also develops their imaginations.

Our sixth form provision, The East Northamptonshire College (TENC), is shared with two local secondary schools, sharing our expertise not only at KS5 but also at KS4 with cross moderation and quality assurance systems. We also have an outstanding nursery onsite, which is open term-time only and many of our staff use this excellent provision for their children.

As this term draws to a close, it is a good opportunity to reflect and consider how far we have come this term. The site is steadily improving, the walkways are looking good and the plans to move reception to the vocational area should be completed by the end of February. Teaching and learning has significantly improved, the pupils are engaged in their lessons and I am pleased to see improved assessment data. The school is calm, happy and there are a lot of exciting events occurring weekly.

This week our pupils presented their ‘Add Me’ performance at the Deco Theatre in Northampton to an audience of 500, they were brilliant. The performing arts team also presented another showcase to a packed audience in the theatre here, another great success with some stunning performances.

Some of our pupils and staff are in Berlin and I hear almost hourly how it is going - Mrs Johnson has commented that the pupils are representing Team Rushden perfectly, what a great experience. We also welcome the London trip back today so watch out for an update on this.

This week we have recruited some outstanding teachers in history, geography and drama, they were highly professional and passionate about our vision and Team Rushden values. They commented on how warm and caring our school was and they are very eager to contribute to our improving journey.

Absolutely blown away again this week! It started with the success of Team Rushden in the Rotary Youth Speaking Competition, our sixth form students Jack, Gaby and Caitlin are now through to the Regional finals. This is a tremendous victory, beating steep competition across the County! Go Team Rushden, we wish you all the best and are very proud of you.

Then came the news that Ms Holmes was representing the school on radio Northampton discussing ‘Prison, Me? No Way!’ This was really successful and some of our pupils have been invited to discuss this further on Radio Northampton this weekend.

On Tuesday the school day was collapsed to have our Learning for Life day. We had 35+ visitors on site and they were so complimentary of our pupils. I am sure later in this bulletin you will see some cracking photos. I couldn’t sum it up better than an email I received this week:

"I just wanted to say a massive well done to those who organised yesterdays ‘Learning for Life day’. The whole day was absolutely excellent and the students were brilliant. Every session was really well delivered with the students’ welfare at the heart of each session."
