I am delighted to welcome you to our rapidly improving school, Rushden Academy. We are part of a highly successful trust called Tove Learning Trust (TLT) and have excellent collaborative networks across the trust. Staff really enjoy working at Rushden Academy and our high staff retention figures demonstrate this fully.

Team Rushden are on the cusp of something great, our results are rapidly improving and our intake numbers are increasing. Visitors are impressed when they visit our school commenting on the strong Team Rushden values permeating across all aspects of school life. We have built a culture where together, students and staff are united in transforming our school.

We are proud of our achievements to date and regularly communicate this widely. There is a strong drive to excel in lessons and to behave respectfully towards each other and our community. We are proud of the curriculum that we have on offer, not only does it deliver the content pupils need to excel in today’s society but it also develops their imaginations.

Our sixth form provision, The East Northamptonshire College (TENC), is shared with two local secondary schools, sharing our expertise not only at KS5 but also at KS4 with cross moderation and quality assurance systems. We also have an outstanding nursery onsite, which is open term-time only and many of our staff use this excellent provision for their children.

This week our Year 12 students are out and about on work experience placements, examples include teaching at local schools, pharmacy, transport logistics and one student has even flown out to Milan to look at IT systems. Great opportunities for Team Rushden!

Year 10 have also been amazing this week, stepping up and taking their mocks extremely seriously. It is essential that they put maximum effort in to their studies at this stage and have the right work ethic and learning habits so that they can achieve their best. Great to hear so many pupils already have high aspirations, but if they are still unsure what their next steps could be we have 1 to 1 career discussions coming up along with a huge enterprise event. Incidentally, some of our year 10 pupils are representing the school next week in a physics challenge and others are competing nationally in Telford with their business ideas, I will keep you posted. Good luck year 9 with your end of year exams in Math’s, English and Science on Monday.

Today we say goodbye to year 11, they have been a fantastic year group and will be missed. We wish them every success as they move upwards and onwards, but before they do we still have to a couple of events like the last few GCSEs to sit for some, the prom, which is always stunning and of course results day on the 23rd August. Incidentally, we would really appreciate receiving back any revision guides, any text books or library books and any donations of school ties.

Year 10 are busy preparing for their end of year exams that start next week, a useful tool is GCSE pod and they should be accessing this along with other revision material. Year 10 have made good progress this year and are really stepping up to the demands of their challenging GCSEs. We are also preparing for the y10 enterprise event where they will have an opportunity to seek out information and guidance about certain jobs/careers. If you think you could offer some careers advice and have ideas to share please do get in touch with Mr Brotherston.
