I am delighted to welcome you to our rapidly improving school, Rushden Academy. We are part of a highly successful trust called Tove Learning Trust (TLT) and have excellent collaborative networks across the trust. Staff really enjoy working at Rushden Academy and our high staff retention figures demonstrate this fully.

Team Rushden are on the cusp of something great, our results are rapidly improving and our intake numbers are increasing. Visitors are impressed when they visit our school commenting on the strong Team Rushden values permeating across all aspects of school life. We have built a culture where together, students and staff are united in transforming our school.

We are proud of our achievements to date and regularly communicate this widely. There is a strong drive to excel in lessons and to behave respectfully towards each other and our community. We are proud of the curriculum that we have on offer, not only does it deliver the content pupils need to excel in today’s society but it also develops their imaginations.

Our sixth form provision, The East Northamptonshire College (TENC), is shared with two local secondary schools, sharing our expertise not only at KS5 but also at KS4 with cross moderation and quality assurance systems. We also have an outstanding nursery onsite, which is open term-time only and many of our staff use this excellent provision for their children.

As another week draws to a close I would like to take the opportunity to share some highlights of the week and some photos too.

This week we met with Tove Learning Trust as we rapidly move towards being re-brokered on the 1st April 2018. I believe that it is one of the best trusts around, led by people in education day in day out, we are already working with them and sharing great practice. It is good news for Team Rushden.

Year 5 pupils visited us this week, experiencing secondary school lessons, they left with some healthy food having made some interesting food kebabs in food tech. Parents also had the opportunity to see Team Rushden in action and again they were incredibly surprised how well our school is doing and how it feels, one visitor said it feels loved! I am sure you’ll see some photos later in the bulletin. Year 6 parents have visited the school this week too, all very positive.

Excellent start to the new term, so many positives to mention...

Safe and sound return of the sixth form trip, the Berlin trip and the Uganda trip. Please read the articles later in the bulletin. Our pupils were great ambassadors of Team Rushden, they conducted themselves impeccably and everyone, not just teachers but the general public too, complimented them on their manners and conduct. Thank you to you if your son/daughter went on the trips, they did us proud.

Year 11 returned in their droves to school during the half term break to receive intensive revision from our dedicated team of teachers. Everyday something was available and sometimes venues were bursting at the seams with well over 50 pupils. Such positive attitudes should pay dividends. Well done Team. March mocks are around the corner and pupils need to be revising at home as well as at school. This time the results will be issued in envelopes like the real results day.
