Dear Families,
IIt has been a fun and exciting end to the half-term this week, with students in all year groups having their end-of-term reward assemblies, alongside two amazing performances of our KS3 production, Madagascar. The shows were incredible, and we would like to thank Miss Jardine and Mrs Gardner for their time, dedication, and support in making this production a huge success.
I also had the privilege of representing Rushden Academy at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday as part of the 70th Anniversary celebrations for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. We continue to proudly offer the DofE award at Rushden Academy, and our staff and students are currently working hard to prepare for the upcoming Bronze expedition taking place next half-term. If you would like to know more about the Duke of Edinburgh offer at the Academy, please contact either Mrs Dunn or Mr Henson for more information.
School Reluctance Session
Thank you to those families who were able to attend the session delivered by Sally Ham on Tuesday. We hope you found the information useful. As a school, we are already thinking about further changes we can make to support students and increase the number of ‘pull factors’ to help them thrive.

‘Wear it Pink’ Fundraiser
To raise funds for a school memorial, our Year 10 students have been working hard to organise a series of fundraisers. We are pleased to confirm that these events will take place on Thursday 11th June.
Students have organised two separate events:
- ‘Wear Something Pink’: For a £1 donation, students are permitted to swap one item of standard school uniform for a pink item (for example: a pink shirt, a pink tie, or a pink hair accessory).
- Cake Sale: This will take place during break and lunchtime on the same day.
If you are able to support these fundraisers, your contribution would be greatly appreciated.
Ethos Session Reminder
Please don’t forget to book your place on the upcoming ‘Time Out for Parents’ workshops being delivered by the Ethos team. The sessions will take place every Friday from 10:00am to 12:00pm, running from 12th June to 3rd July.

Year 11 Timetable After Half Term
We have put together a structured plan for our Year 11 students for after the half-term break. This aims to provide them with the right balance of subject-specialist support for exam preparation, while also allowing additional time and space to revise in the comfort of their own home.
Parents of Year 11 students should have already received a full copy of this plan, but the summary below outlines the schedule for the first week back:
- Monday 1st June: Students can leave after Period 4 (unless they have a German exam).
- Tuesday 2nd June: Students who do not take Geography, History, or French can leave after Period 3.
- Wednesday 3rd June: Students who are not involved in the Geography exam can leave after Period 4.
- Thursday 4th June: History exam in the morning and French masterclass during Period 2. All students are required in school for Periods 3 and 4. Students can leave after Period 4 if they do not have a French exam.
- Friday 5th June: Students can leave after Period 3.
