Y9 & 10 Futsal
The week started off on Tuesday when the boys travelled to Manor hoping to qualify for the county schools games later in the year. The team consisted of a mix of both Year 9 and 10 students including Jacob B, Ethan H, Michael C, Alfie G, Zac H, Richard S, Noah C and Alfie C. The boys worked incredibly hard despite the physical presence and prowess of other schools, improving game by game and that is all we can ask for. The boys will look to continue their improvement when they participate in the Central Venue tournaments which commence next week. Good Luck boys!
On Thursday afternoon it was the turn of the girls. The girls were absolutely buzzing to take part, even creating their own little group chat. The team consisted of Mollie W, Daisy M, Mellissa B, Bella C, Abbie W, Kaysee S, Julia D, Lexi V and Kristie C. With the vast majority of the team having not played futsal before, it was always going to be a step into the unknown for the girls. In each of the four games all 9 girls worked their socks off, laughing and giggling their way through despite some knock-backs in terms of the scorelines! The girls were a real credit and can be immensely proud of themselves for taking on the challenge of competing in a tournament in a sport they've never played and celebrated the two goals in which we scored - like we won the world cup!!! Amazing scenes!! Although we lost each of the four games, the girls stayed to support and cheer on the other schools in the final games, providing a realistic futsal (slightly carnival-like!) atmosphere! The girls are fully committed to returning in a couple of weeks demonstrating their improvements.
