ICT

The aim within the Computing department is to provide a broad experience of IT and computing to all students, helping them to understand how the technology and software we use in our everyday lives to complete tasks, socialise and communicate works; with an aim to equip them for the future, whether they work in the IT industry or use technology as part of their higher education or employment.

The curriculum has been designed to instill subject knowledge which is then used to underpin the application of skills across all key stages. The department therefore develops students’ ability to learn core content using a variety of techniques including quizzing and deliberate practice, whilst also designing opportunities for students to apply this knowledge in a range of contexts.

We believe that any student who has spent time within the Computing department will have developed a better understanding of how the technology we use works, and the impact it has on the way we work, rest and play.
