Dear Families,
As we approach the end of the Spring Term, we are already looking ahead to the Summer Term. To ensure the school continues to run smoothly while Year 11 students prepare for their final exams, we will be making some temporary changes to the structure of the school day.
These changes will ensure that Year 11 students have sufficient time to eat before afternoon exams and can begin their assessments in a quiet environment while the rest of the school is in lessons. We hope this provides our students with the best possible conditions to focus on their papers.
After Easter the structure of the day will be:
AM Form - 8.30 to 8:50
Period 1 - 8:50 to 9:50
Period 2 - 9:50 to 10:50
Break - 10:50 to 11:15
Period 3 - 11:15 to 12:15
Lunch - 12:15 to 12:50
Period 4 - 12:50 to 13:50
Period 5 - 13:50 to 14:45
PM Form - 14:45 to 15:00
Times will revert back to normal once the exams have all completed. Sixth form students who have lessons at Rushden period 4 will have their lessons following the old time structure, and arrangements will be made for students to get food from the canteen. Mr Glover will communicate these arrangements with you in your next assembly.
Assemblies
This week’s assemblies were delivered by students on the theme of Easter as part of our Ethos Team Easter Takeover! We are incredibly proud of Georgia and Amelia (Year 9) for delivering the assembly every morning this week. Well done for your excellent presentation skills, and thank you to all students who listened so respectfully.
Parent Contact Data
Please remember to keep the school updated if your contact information, such as mobile numbers, email addresses, or home address changes. This ensures that we can reach you quickly in the event of an emergency.
You can update your details via the MCAS app:
- Open the app and select the ‘Data Collection Form’ button.
- Use this screen to make any changes to your personal details.
- Important: Remember to click the ‘submit’ button to save your changes for approval.
On the theme of communication, we apologise for any difficulty reaching us this week; we have experienced repeated technical issues with our phone lines.
Social Action Squad
A huge well done to the Social Action Squad! They were out in the community again this week, supporting a residential garden clean-up in partnership with SERVE. Thank you to all the students involved in this fantastic project.
Rewards Trips
Next week, we have exciting activities planned to mark the end of term. Our reward trips will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. Details have already been shared with families; for students not attending the trips, lessons will continue as normal.
On Thursday, I look forward to our Attendance Prize Draw. This virtual assembly is a wonderful way to celebrate those with excellent attendance and always creates a positive buzz around the school.
Looking ahead, we continue to listen to all feedback received. We will be making significant changes to our rewards system next year, shifting our focus toward student progress rather than just attendance. We believe this will be a more inclusive motivator for all students and look forward to sharing more details during the Summer Term.
Uniform
A list of FAQs regarding the proposed changes to the uniform policy has been added to the school website. If you have concerns or questions, please review this page first. We are now drafting the final version for the Governors to ratify before it is shared with all parents.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing all students on Monday for the final week of term!
Yours sincerely,
Mr. J. Firth
Principal
