Message From the Principal 26.06.2026

Dear Families,

We hope you have all stayed safe during this exceptionally hot period. This evening (Friday), our Year 13 students will be attending their prom at Kettering Rugby Club. We hope they have a lovely evening and enjoy celebrating the end of their sixth form journey. We wish all of our students the very best of luck for the future, and we hope they keep in touch with us over the coming years so we can continue to celebrate their successes and achievements.

Next week, we look forward to welcoming our new intake of sixth form students as they complete their induction week. We have lots of activities planned to welcome them, and we know they will have a great week!

Year 12 students will also have a busy week ahead as they engage with their work experience. We hope all students have a fantastic experience, and we look forward to hearing more about their time with employers when they return the following week.

Weather and Uniform Update

As promised in my last video update, we are communicating the final messages regarding uniform and the return to school next week. At the time of writing, the weather forecast is set to turn significantly cooler on Sunday. This means that students and staff will be able to safely return to school in their normal school uniform, ready for line up at 8:25am.

Times of the Day

We would like to remind families that the school day will be reverting back to our usual times. The structure of the day is as follows:

AM Form Time

Period 1

Period 2

Break

Period 3

Period 4

Lunch

Period 5

PM Form Time

We appreciate everyone’s support during these recent changes. It has significantly supported our Year 10 and Year 11 students while completing their exams.

Student Runners

At Rushden Academy, we are always looking for innovative ways to prepare our students for life beyond the classroom. We are excited to launch our refreshed Student Runner Programme, which has now been officially recognised as a meaningful internal work experience opportunity.

Rather than just a school helping-hand role, this programme is designed to mimic a real workplace environment, allowing students to build vital employability skills right here on campus. Students will develop key transferable skills that employers look for, including punctuality, professional communication, adaptability, and confidentiality. It provides a fantastic talking point for future applications, apprenticeships, and CVs.

Staff Shout-Out!

Finally, we would like to give a huge congratulations to Mrs. Dunn, who won the ‘Boundless Dedication Award’ at the Pride of TOVE Awards ceremony on Wednesday evening.

We are extremely grateful for all the work Mrs. Dunn does for the school and the wider community, including co-leading the Duke of Edinburgh Award and leading the PTFA. It was fantastic to see her hard work recognised by the Trust. Congratulations and thank you for all you do!

We hope that you all have a lovely weekend.

Take care everyone!

Yours sincerely,

Mr. J. Firth

Principal
