Message From the Principal 19.07.2024

Dear Parent / Carer

For the final newsletter of the term, I wanted to share my thanks to all of Team Rushden. It has been an incredible year full of successes and celebrations. I would like to thank the Performing Arts team who have given up so much time to run rehearsals, design and create the set, and to set up all the lighting and sound systems. They have delivered another epic show and we are so proud of all the students who have worked so hard, and committed so much time and effort to deliver multiple outstanding performances! I am excited about the shows that the team will be working on next year!

On Wednesday, students whose attendance was above 95% and had no suspensions since Easter were rewarded with our annual Fun on the Field celebrations. All students had a great time playing on the inflatable equipment and we look forward to running this event again next year!

You will have noticed that we have set some summer work for our year 10 students. Our decision to set this work is based on research that has shown that students who do not complete any work over the summer lose up to three months of learning. As year 10 will be working hard next year for their GCSEs and BTECs, we do not want them to start back in September having lost so much of their current learning. The work set is designed to continue to support and embed what they have studied in year 10, and to help address any gaps in learning that have been identified from their progress 3 assessments. We would like to thank you in advance for your support with this.

Should you have any concerns over the summer, you will find details of individuals and organisations who are available to support you on our school website. There are a range of summer activities provided by the local council and information regarding these events will also be available on the school website.

Finally, I would like to thank you all for your continued support and I hope that you all have a wonderful summer break. We look forward to seeing all students looking incredibly smart in full school uniform on 3rd September, with year 7 students arriving to start the school day at 8:30am (gates are open from 8:10am), and all other year groups arriving to start the day at 11:25am (gates are open from 11:00am).

Yours sincerely,

Mr J Firth

Principal
