Students at Rushden Academy receive 3 one-hour lessons across the two week timetable in years 7 & 8 and will stay in their group, with the same teacher for the academic year, except where specialist teachers deliver activities such as Dance and Trampolining. Over the course of the two years we aim to provide students with a range of different experiences, from traditional team games such as football, rugby and netball to individual activities as well as experience different activities from other cultures. Activities are blocked into time periods of about 4 weeks to ensure that as many different activities can be experienced within the year. A typical student might take part in football, trampolining, netball, dance, badminton, tennis, athletics, rounders, fitness and rugby within one year, as well as have opportunities to take part in our extensive extra-curricular calendar.

Supporting your Child

Know your child’s timetable and which days of the two week rotation that they need to bring their full PE kit.  Promote physical activity on regular occasions and emphasise that Physical Education is a compulsory part of your son or daughter’s learning in school.  Also be aware that extra curricula clubs are offered to ALL students on most days at lunchtime and after school.
