I think it’s good because there are 2 different pathways and you choose which one you want to do.  I like sports overall so it’s good you get a wide range of things.  I chose the games based pathway because it’s more suitable for me and I would rather do netball and softball instead of dance.  In the winter I do netball, basketball and badminton at after school clubs and in the summer I do rounders and athletics.  It is fun because you do competitions against other schools.

I love the pathway I’ve chosen because you get to do all the sports you want to do instead of ones you don’t.  I do basketball and netball after school clubs, I like going because it helps me improve my skills and we do competitions with other schools which helps with team work and I feel it brings the year closer together.

In Year 10 PE I am able to choose what I want to do each term.  This gives me a variety of different activities and I like it very much.

Kieran - Student

I have found this course enjoyable because of the range of topics that are covered.  The course is great as there is a fair split between theory and practical lessons.  I have found that during this course you can become more confident as a leader and a person through leading events and teaching a lesson also by working in groups during lessons.   However if you want a good grade at the end you need to put in the effort because there  is a lot of work to complete and deadlines that you need to meet.

I love sports that’s why did sport.  It is fun, interesting and it makes you more responsible.  I found it fun and interesting because you get to work with people you haven’t had the opportunity to work with whilst learning things about fitness testing, leadership and practical sport.  In this course, you also get to be more responsible as you have to do your best to finish coursework on time and you will have the chance to lead big groups like years below you and even your own year group with confidence.

Supporting your Child

Know your child’s timetable and which days of the two week rotation that they need to bring their full PE kit.  Promote physical activity on regular occasions and emphasise that Physical Education is a compulsory part of your son or daughter’s learning in school.  Also be aware that extra curricula clubs are offered to ALL students on most days at lunchtime and after school.
