It is always a pleasure to welcome visitors to our school. Again, this week we have had a number of Year 6 parents wishing to see how we operate as Team Rushden. School is as always extremely calm but Thursday’s visits may have been an exception as it was our first Learning for Life day, it was lively and our pupils certainly became highly competitive during the activities, especially our new Y7’s who were involved in teamwork exercises as part of the ‘Egg Drop Challenge’.

Year 11 worked hard on their mock and GCSE/BTEC practice today and we hope they benefited from this. Over half term, Year 11 must make some revision cards and posters in preparation for their mocks in December. With only 110 actual school days left to their ‘real’ GCSE exams they have to make the most of every learning opportunity.

The building work is progressing well but probably will continue until Christmas, after that we will certainly need a Spring clean! Pupils are encouraged not to litter the site and we all need to make a concerted effort to keep our site as tidy as possible. This will support our Team Rushden value of being ‘SMART’. Directly relating to this is our school uniform and wearing this with pride. On the whole this is really good, but we still have some who push the boundaries by wearing non-uniform jumpers and hoodies. As the weather turns we would advise that our pupils have a decent outdoor coat. Please help us to be smart in all we do.

This week we received some excellent news that Grace Foundation, through our trust TLT, are going to partner with Rushden Academy to support us in further developing our ethos programme. The Grace Foundation plans will help our pupils develop character & values, build healthy relationships and understand Christian perspectives. This is 100% externally funded and they will be recruiting a team of 3 to work within our school, full-time and permanently, further details can be found later in this bulletin.

There is now just one week left of what has been a very busy half term. Can I remind you that pupils return on Tuesday 5th November as we have staff training day on Monday 4th November. It is hard to imagine that the clocks are going back this month and we return on Bonfire night. Please do have some quality family time over half term.
