Good afternoon

Welcome back, I hope that you have had a good break and feel completely refreshed and raring to go. I was pleased to hear that many of our year 11 pupils attended the revision sessions during the Easter break and I would like to thank the teachers for taking the time to plan and deliver intensive sessions for the team.

Over the Easter break we did upgrade the main toilet block and installed IT cabling in Maths, IT, MFL and the humanities department. Our next improvement phase will be to continue with the cabling across school, to improve the roof conditions, replace windows in performing arts and creative arts and re-carpet some of our classrooms and the library. These projects are ear marked for the summer and beyond.

We start the exam period in 2 weeks’ time and it is all actions go, in fact many ‘real’ exams are taking place right now, for instance French speaking exams, photography, art, dance and drama. BTEC coursework is being finalized and teachers are frantically supporting their pupils across KS4 and KS5 with last minute revision top tips. Pupils need to be preparing well now, practicing GCSE papers and learning facts. In order to achieve good grades pupils have to be determined learners and put the effort in to learning their work. Time and time again pupils say the key to success is revision.

Last night we had our year 9 parents evening, it was very well attended and it was a very positive experience for staff, pupils and parents. Thank you all for making it such a success, it was a real joy to see so many smiling faces. This is a very short term and at the end of this term we will be hosting ‘Rushden’s got Talent’, another highlight in the school year. Last year it brought me to tears and I am really looking forward to what is on offer again this year, not that I want to wish the term over and get even closer to our external A level and GCSE examinations!

Have a good half term and once again thank you for reading
