Good afternoon

As promised, please find in this edition information about our new catering company Aspens who won the catering contract for the Academy. They will be re-branding the canteen over half term ready for the return of our pupils on Monday 25th February.

We have also included a collection of photos showcasing the wide range of lunchtime activities on offer at the Academy. We are always so grateful that staff give up their lunchtimes to provide great extra-curricular opportunities for our pupils. However, if certain pupils do not show the respect we expect, they will unfortunately lose this privilege. This week, we had to collect a pupil from form time to make use of a mop and bucket to clean up the mess he had created and taken no responsibility for. Our Team Rushden values expects that everyone takes responsibility and respects the environment.

Thank you for sending your sons or daughters to the Harry Potter evening last night. It was absolutely sensational! There were so many engaging activities laid on for the pupils. The atmosphere was electric with so much fun being had and so many prizes being awarded. Harry Potter night continues to be a great success, thank you to Ms Raven and Mrs Quantrill for organizing this and the staff and students who either attended or were involved. I am sure JK Rowling would have been very impressed.

We are so thrilled to report that our Academy continues to be fully staffed, tomorrow we will be interviewing English and Math’s teachers in preparation for next September as the school intake increases. We have had no supply teachers at all this academic year and that in itself is worth celebrating in a time of challenge for many schools. Our Academy remains very stable and our staff continue to be highly determined to get the best grades for our pupils. During half term Y11 & Y13 pupils must continue to revise in preparation for the exam season, chipping away continuously at their subject topics. As ever, you always get what you put in, so don’t delay the inevitable, 5,4,3,2,1 - don’t overthink it - just do it!

We hope that you have a positive and productive half term break when it arrives. Please remember you are always welcome to come and visit and see first-hand how well we are doing.

Best wishes

Mrs J Burton
