How vibrant year 11 parents evening was last night with an incredibly high turnout, over 80%! Thank you, thank you. It is fantastic that students are clear about what they need to work on and they say they have all the resources they need. As ever we are so keen to know how we can help further, after all we are on this journey together.

As you may be aware I sometimes get to visit other schools and see how they are doing, it gives me an opportunity to test where we are as a school and bring back ideas for us to work on. I would like everyone to be able to say that they know our values which sit below out Team Rushden banner and those are being smart, respectful, hard-working & resilient and obviously being a team player. It makes me smile when a pupil reprimands another and automatically says ‘well that’s not Team Rushden is it?’ I wonder if they ever say this at home?!

Homework is an integral part to school life, it gets our pupils into good habits and prepares them for their exams and possibly the world of work. Using resources like GCSEPod and YouTube to access learning from a different perspective is useful especially to help retain and learn information over time. Practicing exam papers over and over is vital.

We will be publishing assessment information for all year groups in advance of students sitting them so that our pupils can get into good habits and prepare well. We will also have consolidation lessons where we focus on previous learning and skills to help students retain information and apply it in their assessments. The learning for life days will continue to build the skills needed to lead a happy and successful life in modern Britain.

This school is going from strength to strength, we rely on everyone to keep communicating on this, whatever your thoughts are, we will listen and act. The links we have with our trust, Tove Learning is incredibly strong and we are fortunate to be learning from the best. We should be very proud of our achievements to date and without your support we would not be making the progress we are, so once again thank you.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs J Burton

Principal
