Good afternoon

Firstly I would like to thank those of you who completed the canteen questionnaire, today I will be using your responses to select the catering company. Here is some of your feedback:

  • Yes for breakfast to be on offer
  • Would like to buy hot drinks and paninis
  • Would rather pay slightly more for quality
  • Keep the bacon rolls but have less pizza
  • Improve the queuing and seating
  • The drinks need to be better priced

This week we received news from the local authority that our intake for September 2019 is likely to be significantly higher than previous years. This is excellent news, although we are currently fully staffed with a stable team, we will be looking to recruit early so we get the best. Here are some of the parent comments received:

  • They loved open evening
  • They were so surprised how good we were when they visited during the day
  • They have heard excellent reviews about Rushden Academy
  • It stands out against other schools
  • The attitudes of staff and pupils are not only positive, but happy and friendly
  • The teachers and students are enthusiastic

On the 17th December we will be hosting an event to attract the best teachers, we offer in return excellent professional development, an outstanding nursery on site and a great place to work. If you are considering a career change then please do contact us and we will see how we can help. Please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Also this week we were awarded the Bronze Award for the work we do with the National Citizenship services, Miss Neville and Mrs Blackmore went to the event where we were awarded this National accolade, well done Team Rushden.

Year 11 mock exams start on Monday, please refer to our exam officers expectations. It is essential that your son/daughter makes the most of this process and puts every effort into gaining the best grades. We provide a range of support mechanisms but you really cannot beat a determined attitude where maximum effort is put into revision. It is hard but the only way.

Finally please refer to Mr Middleton’s information for the last day of term plans and a reminder that students return to school on Tuesday 8th January 2019. As we near towards the end of term 1 we can look back and reflect on how far we have come. Year 7 seem like they have been here forever, year 12 have soon matured into TENC life and our new staff have made a huge difference. It has been a really productive term so far; however we still have much to come – looking forward to the Christmas panto, oh yes I am. Once again our doors will be open to the primary school pupils and their teachers, it’s always such a pleasure and starts to feel a lot like Christmas.

Thanks again for reading and have a good weekend.

Mrs J Burton
