Please note: Individual teachers may set their classes additional work if students are feeding back that they are ahead/ finished. Below is a minimum expectation.

Students are expected to send one piece of completed work to their individual teacher at the end of the unit (w/b 18.05.20) for teachers to check understanding and give an effort grade/ feedback. Year 7 and 8 are also expected to complete an AR quiz by 18.05.20

 

·   To read, understand and respond to texts.

·   To communicate clearly, effectively and imaginatively, selecting and adapting tone, style and register for different forms, purposes and audiences

·   To use a range of vocabulary and sentence structures for clarity, purpose and effect, with accurate spelling and punctuation

·   To develop knowledge, understanding and use of noun phrases and adverbial phrases

·   To explore the features of dystopian fiction

·   Read at least 25 minutes every day. Once you have completed a book, finish a quiz on the AR website.

·     Complete episode 4.  Work through the activities on the PowerPoint.  Think through any discussion points.  Possible outcomes:  Katniss - character analysis, text map.

Work is marked by system and feedback given immediately; you should be looking to achieve at least 75% on each task completed.

 

Feedback then given by teacher and any work that needs to be looked at again will be returned with some assistance to complete.

This is the link to BBC daily lessons, use the web site, videos and worksheets. You can still use the google sheets document on the google drive to access more links on these topics and Collins Connect for the textbook.

Each lesson on the BBC should take around 30-40mins depending on lengths of video.

The Educake test should take between 25-45 minutes.

You must complete the 30-mark Educake assignment (10marks on each topic) so we can check your understanding. It will be called Year 8 summer home learning 5.  It will become live on the 22nd and must be completed by 26th May

Extension project. This is entirely voluntary but will help develop your scientific knowledge- and you never know might be good fun!

Holocaust

 

Take a virtual field trip around Anne Frank's House exploring what it was like to live how Anne Frank lived, reading parts of her diary as you go and finding out what happened to her throughout the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands during the Second World War.

 

You will have questions to answer along the way as you see history brought to life. This amazing website makes you feel like you are really in Amsterdam exploring the home of this young girl (a similar age to you) and what she went through during the height of the Holocaust.

Drama: Explore character development skills through script writing

Dance: Develop an understanding of the key features of the style of Rock and Roll and its origins. 

Music: To understand how to select appropriate subject may matter and lyrics for a song in a particular genre

Drama: Write two monologues from the perspective of two suspects in the case.

Dance: create a fact file about Rock and Roll using the google slide provided. Take part in practical Rock and Roll dance class and then complete self-evaluation.

Music: write the lyrics for an original song in the style of the genre studied (Pop or Rock). Complete listening log 3.

Please complete the ME in PE worksheet which focuses on Striking and Fielding. Over the two-week period there is both a theory/written task and a physical task which needs to be completed over a series of days. 

Use google classroom to access the worksheet. Students can send the resources electronically as well as photos of them participating in the tasks. 

Google classroom and each individual staff email address have been shared with students if they require help.
