At Rushden Academy we recognise the importance of our students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural learning and how this plays a significant role in their ability to understand and make sense of the wider world around them, which in turn provides them with a full range of opportunities for a more ‘rounded and grounded’ education.

We consistently provide students with opportunities to explore and develop their own values, attitudes and beliefs whilst being very much set within a British values agenda, that is, one based in an understanding of the importance of democracy, the rule of law and how societies function, individual freedom and liberty, and an embedded respect for different faiths and cultures.

We offer and encourage opportunities for students to experience a sense of joy and wonder in learning, enabling students to aspire, explore and achieve at every level and in all that they do.  We foster positive relationships so students develop a caring attitude towards other people and encourage our pupils to have an understanding of their social and cultural traditions alongside an appreciation of the diversity of other cultures. In addition to this we have high expectations and standards of personal behaviour which is evident in the pride students are taking in being part of our drive for excellence.

We embed the above within our PSHE lessons, tutor time, assemblies, classroom teaching and opportunities within and beyond the school day.
