Dance is vital, an activity that is both exhilarating and liberating to watch or do. The instinct to dance is fundamentally joyous and no matter how hard you try you can't get away from it for long. It can also be a huge force for good, effectively drawing people together and levelling everyone through sheer hard work. It can speed up your heart rate, it can enliven you being, it can change your life''.  Richard Alston CBE

At Rushden Academy, Dance is offered at key stage 3 during PE and Key stage 4 at GCSE level.  We value Dance because as well as all the social, emotional and physical health benefits living an active life enhances; Dance also encourages students to be creative, imaginative, to work as part of a team. It heightens young people's awareness of the importance of being self-aware and uses movement symbolically as a form of expression.
