On the 13th May 2015 7 Year 10 computer science students visited Oxford University, Worcester College along with other schools within the Education Fellowship. All the students who attended from the Rushden Academy had written a letter of application to explain how the visit would benefit their studies in computer science and why they wanted to go to university in the future.

As we arrived at Worcester College student were greeted by an impressive and immaculate campus, students were then shown into a lecture theatre were students received at small lecture on life at Oxford University but also the costs and benefits of continuing into higher education. Shortly after this lecture student went on a tour of the campus lead by 2 first year students from the university. Students had a chance to not only see the facilities on offer but to also ask question about life at Oxford University and student life in general.

After a lunch provided in the very grand dining hall students were taken to the universities computer science laboratory where students received a lecture on ‘Computer Security’ and ‘Ubiquitous Computing’, again students had the opportunity to ask questions and interact with students from the University, before we returned home.
