"The Raising Participation Age Project is a government funded initiative targeting young people from year 10 and above to work towards post 16 aspirational career choices. The law changed in 2013 to ensure that all young people under the age of 18 either stayed on at school, enrolled at the Academy or took part in a work based training scheme, such as an apprenticeship. To date, all students who have taken part in this project have secured their first or second choice post 16 preference. The RPA project is a partnership initiative with TENC schools within our Sixth Form consortium,  working closely with Connexions (who organise work experience placements), Rockingham Speedway Study centre, who offer tailor made basic skills workshops and local FE Colleges.

The RPA project has been externally evaluated by the NFER, a Department of Education approved baseline assessment organisation, who found that students who had engaged in the project had benefited greatly from the tailor made support packages and felt more secure about their future options and choices.’
