Year 7 Catch up Funding is given to schools to help support students who gained the lowest scores at KS2 to make accelerated progress in English and Mathematics in Year 7.

The funding is £16,000. This has been used to buy in additional Teaching Assistant Support.

During the academic year 2017/18, we are extending our provision available to students through the support of the numeracy and literacy TAs, the SEND team and our Librarians.

This includes:

 In class and small group support in English and mathematics.

 Accelerated Reader which supports an increase in reading age.

 Lexia provision which supports other aspects of literacy.

 Learn to learn lessons with Head of Year which supports all aspects of learning.

 Small group Maths intervention

 Small group English intervention

Review – November 2017

25 students have been targeted for this additional support. This is the entire cohort of low ability students in year 7.

Data from our first assessment point shows that:

17 out of our 25 students low ability students are above their current flight path target, so making more than expected progress in English.

19 out of our 25 low ability students are above their current flight path target, so making more than expected progress in Maths.

Next steps: regroup intervention sessions so those not making accelerated progress have more bespoke time, ensure teachers are providing additional feedback and support in class and for homework.
