This week our Year 12 students are out and about on work experience placements, examples include teaching at local schools, pharmacy, transport logistics and one student has even flown out to Milan to look at IT systems. Great opportunities for Team Rushden!

Year 10 have also been amazing this week, stepping up and taking their mocks extremely seriously. It is essential that they put maximum effort in to their studies at this stage and have the right work ethic and learning habits so that they can achieve their best. Great to hear so many pupils already have high aspirations, but if they are still unsure what their next steps could be we have 1 to 1 career discussions coming up along with a huge enterprise event. Incidentally, some of our year 10 pupils are representing the school next week in a physics challenge and others are competing nationally in Telford with their business ideas, I will keep you posted. Good luck year 9 with your end of year exams in Math’s, English and Science on Monday.

Over the next few weeks we will be busy preparing for September 2018, the Humanities and Math’s department are swapping floors so that we can keep ICT, Business and Math’s together, and we will have all of our Humanities classes together too. This is going to give us an opportunity to revamp the classrooms and corridors, in fact Henry VIII is already on the stairwell and over the next few weeks we will see a history timeline of events appear. We have so many ideas and not enough time, but we will get there. It would be great if we could get the community involved! Maybe our PTFA could come to the rescue, if you are interested we would love to hear from you: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Next week we will be welcoming Year 6 and their parents to Rushden Academy, we are so happy that our pupil numbers have increased this year. We will ensure our new intake settle quickly into the team, they will be well supported by teachers and pupils alike. The senior y10 prefects will be talking to parents and year 6s and will be available for questions. So once again we welcome new pupils to Team Rushden and with mixed emotions have to say farewell to others, and so it continues. Recently we have been looking at old school honour’s boards, but we do have some gaps and need your help in finding the missing names. If you think you might be able to help, they are on the website.

Many thanks, enjoy your weekend and let’s hope England do well on Sunday!
