Wow! Another amazing week at Rushden Academy. Last night we hosted Rushden’s got Talent, it was stunning and our pupils and staff were just incredible. There are some photos included in this bulletin but they don’t do it justice, you must come and see what we do for yourselves next time, the next big event is in July, Grease.

Team Rushden are always looking for ways to improve, this week we added a couple of new quick links to our website. One is Go4Schools, if you click on this it tells you all about the product, with effect from September you will have your own log-in details and be able to access this and see information about your son/daughter.

Another quick link on our website is to email any bullying concerns, we take bullying issues very seriously and expect people in Team Rushden to be respectful and kind to one another. Our expectation is that we all sign up to our Team Rushden values and our anti-bullying charter. To maintain these high expectations and ensure Team Rushden are safe and well cared for we have installed an anti-bullying letter box (First–aid room door) for pupils to post notes, we have our school counsellor Jo Holmes and a caring pastoral team to talk to, we now have the link on the website so that you can email concerns and we are almost ready to launch a text number too. During the Head Boy and Head Girl and prefect team interviews we will also be seeking anti-bullying ambassadors that can support our pupils with their well-being.

As you are aware the law has changed today in order to be compliant with The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This means we should be better protected and have more control of our data by knowing for example what happens to it, and what it is used for. We have contacted you regarding this via email and also via your son/daughter, please can you return any remaining correspondence back to school, I am aware that our data team will be contacting some parents in due course with last minute queries.

Year 11’s have been amazing this week, they kept their nerves in the Math’s exam unlike some BBC presenters! They are currently sat in a very long English exam, I really wish them all the best over the next few weeks. So glad that they are able to pace themselves next week and not have the constant exam pressure.

When we return year 7 will have their assessments in class, and the year 10 will have mock exams starting soon in the Sports Hall. It is always such a busy time of year, what with exam prep but also getting set to hit the ground running in September.

Thank you for all your support this term, we always strive to do our best.

Principal
