Tremendous week building on Team Rushden’s determination and hard work.

On Tuesday evening the Lecture Theatre was bursting at the seams with many of our Y11’s and their parents/carers. It was wonderful to see so many there listening intently to the plans going forward for Y11. It is hard to believe that, in September, we are considering their next steps following GSCEs, but with less than 130 school days left, every day counts. It is vital that we do not miss any learning opportunities and think creatively about revision resources that we can invest in now to support Team Rushden during this important year.

On Wednesday evening we had a full governors meeting and appointed a new Chair of Governors, Tony Daverson who will be fulfilling this roll until a new trust is in place. Tony has been a governor at Rushden Academy for some time and knows the school very well. Tony has had the experience of being a Chair of Governors during his time here and I am thrilled that he will be able to support and challenge Team Rushden, thus ensuring we keep all of our promises and demands.

Team Rushden are determined to be the best school and nothing will stand in our way of our plans, we are on track. The school is calm, the pupils are settled and on track to succeed and teachers are stepping up more than ever before and delivering better lessons. The proof is in the pupil feedback but we do want your feedback too. Year 11 reports will soon be issued followed swiftly by Y10, at the same time we will include a short questionnaire for you to complete. We would like to know your thoughts on the progress we are making and how we can improve further. Year 9, 8 & 7 questionnaires will follow behind this and we will provide feedback in our bulletins.

On Thursday we had Team Rushden’s awards evening. So many pupils received badges, certificates and trophies, and it was really good to see so much participation and community spirit. Their names and trophies are now centrally on view for all of Team Rushden to share. Their names will forever be with us. There were so many to thank on the evening for making the event happen, but I must say a special thank you to Ryan Whitenburgh and Owen Turner, our students who generously volunteer so much of their time to help Team Rushden with their lighting and sound expertise.
